News and events News Wired differently: a poem On a school holiday day, on a very emotional moment, a mother wrote a poem about her son, Tristan, who has Asperger's syndrome - and it's gone viral. In this moving poem, she says "He is wired differently, To you and me, This child of mine" , describing in a warm, determined, loving and challenging way, who Tristan really is and the barriers that he faces in a society that only sees his outbursts. On the BBC's website, you can watch see this fantastic tribute of a Mum to her autistic Son. More research can change lives Thanks to our supporters, the Autism Research Trust funds research to understand the causes of autism, improve diagnosis and explore interventions to ensure that autistic people receive the best possible support. The majority of our funds are directed to the pioneering research of the Autism Research Centre in Cambridge and, more recently, to funding the creation of a new Autism Centre for Excellence, a unique and very special collaboration between autistic people and their families, also in Cambridge.
