Aim of the project

In collaboration with the Sheba Medical Center in Israel, researchers will assess the effectiveness of a non-invasive index of prenatal sex steroid exposure that can be measured on an ultrasound.
Parents in their 2nd and 3rd trimester will have an ultrasound, a maternal serum sample, and an amniotic sample (if relevant) analysed and their child will be followed up with at 18 and 24 months of age.

Importance of research

An antenatal test for autism would enable early detection that would make possible early monitoring and early intervention, for example the Early Start Denver Model.
